The Israel Museum, in collaboration with Google, has digitized and made five of the original Dead Sea Scrolls available to the public for the first time. Including among the available texts are the Great Isaiah Scroll, the Temple Scroll, and the scroll known as "The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness". Passages can be viewed in high-res, zoomed in and out, and translated into English.
Access to the original scrolls has long been severely limited and burdened by political and religious controversy. The digitazation marks a significant shift in perspective. By 2016, nearly all of the scrolls will be available online as part of the Antiquities Authorities project.
