A non-profit organization called Earthsharing Australia is sponsoring a film competition about the effects of gentrification on cities and communities around the world. According to IWantToLiveHere.org:

"Gentrification is a demographic shift in an urban area which sees affluent middle-class people move into an area creating higher demands for housing and leading to an increase in property prices.”

The organization’s mission is to bring light to this situation and also to support those who are getting pushed out of the communities–namely the artists and bohemians.

Submissions are being taken until November 4, 2009. The grand prize is $3,000–enough to keep you rent woes down for a while.
