With the protest of TED coming up on April 2nd, all of the attention is being focused on Rupert Sheldrake’s talk. The controversy began and ended with him after all.
Many of the ideas promulgated via TED erode the foundation of
what people consider normal or unchangeable. But as the recent
contretemps reveals, TED is still wedded to the old narrative in some
important ways.
In the fall of 2011, a visionary sub-group of OWS protesters lived in Zuccotti Park, connecting to each other through the language of poetry. Since their forced removal by Bloomberg, librarian Stephen J. Boyer has committed his efforts towards compiling and publishing The Occupy Wall Street Poetry Anthology, a "spiritual biography of the movement."
These personal accounts capture life at Zuccotti Park, as experienced by a young Civil Rights attorney and mother who arrived at the Occupy Wall Street protests a skeptic, but who was quickly pulled in by the excitement of witnessing a new movement being birthed.
On The New York Times front page: Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, had just died, and with his death a worldview is dying with him. Above that, a photo of a crowd, the colors vibrant and varied. The worldview in the photo, depicting Occupy Wall Street, has just been born.
