This thread is for only for technical or non-reading issues related to the RS Reading Group.  If you have comments or suggestions about how the reading group is being conducted, this is the place.

Posting and schedule

There still seems to be an issue with posting in Firefox. For now I'm using Safari. As for the upcoming schedule, I'd like to make the following suggestion. I would like to wait another week before going on to chapter 2 because people might still be trying to get the book and their feet wet with posting. I'd also like to see more discussion develop. When I was working on my masters I took some online classes and there was a general policy that each participant had to post three times a week. I think it would be silly to impose anything like that, and this forum most definitely would benefit from being more organic, but I would like to encourage discussion beyond just reacting to the chapters. Also, next week is Easter holiday in Italy, so I will would like to take a break from leading the discussion on March 28 for chapter 2. So I'm hoping that someone else will do it, or we can restart the forum the following week. I'd hate break the rhythm, but I definitely need a work break during easter week.

Suggestions? What do you think?

A Convenient Link Needed

I want to strongly encourage that a site administrator or editor be again contacted in order to grant easier access to the reading group. The original article has now completely disappeared from the front page and even searching for it is laborious. Why, for instance, isn't it accessible through "Featured Posts?"

Comment forwarded

Martin, I forwarded your note to the administrators of the site. Hopefully it will be fixed. Thanks, Antonio

Link/Volunteer

Hi Antonio, sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet about leading a discussion, but the semester's gotten hectic fast as I've just begun teaching Gravity's Rainbow and have been busy with job interviews.

If possible I'd love to put off my week for discussion until after May 10th or so... hope that works and I hope I can find some time to stay active here in the next few weeks.

In regards to link - I had a suggestion to simply edit the forum tab (which is I've found the best way to get to the Multitude group) to include something about "reading group" or "Multitude", etc...  I guess "forum" is a bit self-explanatory, but because of the layout of the site and constant influx of articles I think i think it is difficult for people who visit often to be reminded that this reading group is still going on/or even has happened.  Even changing the color on the "forum" link might help with getting new participants.

More importantly though, because of the importance of what this group discussion has the potential to arrive at - the mobilization of the multitude and REAL democracy - I think the attraction on the main page should be a little higher.

All bridges can be rebuilt.

Thanks for volunteering

No problem. If there is a chapter that specifically interests you, let me know. My idea of going one week for each chapter isn't quite working out since we haven't had any comments in a week, so we'll just have to wait and see. Also there may be some issues of people not finding the forum.
