Evolution Begat Religion?

Bill Machon

Using a computer program of his own creation, evolutionary anthropologist James Dow has come across a theory that religion is a product of evolution. His program analyzes how early humans interacted and adapted to co-existing with each other, and the evolutionary benefits of those interactions with regards to the passing on information between people with religious beliefs and non-believers. He argues that religion flourished because of the complexities of these interactions.
