Unnatural Threat

Morgan Maher

A proposed Canadian legislation, Bill C-51 plans to remove 70% of natural health products (vitamins, herbs, traditional medicines) from Canadians with many others available by prescription only.

The Bill aims to restrict research and development of safe natural alternatives in favor of high risk drugs along with creating a kind of "Health Police" to enforce these proposed laws. Canadians could be punished with severe fines (up to $5 million), jail time of up to two years, seizure of property and seizure of bank accounts for simply speaking about or giving a natural product without the approval of government. The new law goes so far as to warrant action against a person who would give another person an "unapproved" amount of garlic on the recommendation that it would improve that person's health.

Codex Alimentarius

I saw a presentation on google video a few months ago which talked about these kinds of bills getting pushed through legislatures soon (making vitamins, herbs, and minerals illegal while pushing GMO's, pesticides, flouridated water, and faux food). At the time I thought it was a paranoid New World Order conspiracy theory/fixation. Now that I read this I am very worried. Does anyone know anything else about this topic and the validity of the what is discussed by those warning us of Codex Alimentarius? I hope this bill gets stopped in Canada and does not find its way into the US, or anywhere else for that matter.

this is evil empire

in the pocket of the Pharma, the same people that want everybody to be a drug pill.Doctors made into monsters that want everybody to be toxic good little people. So the few monsters on top of the heap can reap the prize.More people die from pharmaceutical drugs then cancer or heart disease, and we know how people get those diseases, the vicious circle, of payed leaders, that have no conscience.they hate the natural world, they think they can make a machine that will make them immortal, and nature will be no more.

Canada, goin down the tubes.Hate is the new pill that will cure you of love.

Canadian Society

Okay so here's the deal. For many of you who don't know much about Canadian Society or Canadian Politics should understand that, in my opinion, Canada is a very left wing society. If you look at our national political parties we have more left wing political parties then right wing political parties. At this moment in time we have a right wing political party in power (the Progressive Conservatives) who are very pro oil, anti environment, anti gay marriage...etc This bill just seems to follow the line that the PC has followed since they came into power. They seem to be very afraid of anything that is different or doesn't follow what they consider to be right or normal. The PC is all about making money and protecting the corporations profit. If you want to read another crazy bill, research bill c-10. That one is really messed up as well. It's a form of censorship, to make a long story short. Governments should stop trying to make people fit into a box that they think we should fit into.

Question for you, Mythagocheese....

I am slightly familiar with the Canadian govt and agree with your explanation of the same. My question is whether or not you think the people of Canada will be able to prevent this bill from becoming law. Is there enough interest amongst the people? Judy http://www.drowningcreek.com

The return

If this bill passes a 13,000 year dormant feathered dragon will shoot out from under the ground and eat all of the horrible souls that have been ravaging the earth.  Sorry if this isn't a very constructive post, i just worry sometimes.

thanks for your question JGex

Once a bill passes the house of commons it then goes to the senate for approval. The right wing party has a minority government in the commons, so it needs the support of one of our other political parties. In the senate the left wingers (hockey pun not intended) dominate. The senate will then debate the validity of the bill, and yes they can quash it, or send it back to the house of commons for amendments. Now remember this is a proposed bill. Nothing has been passed as of yet (as far as i know). In Canada we have a multiple party system. So if a minority government wants to pass a bill into law they need the support of another political party. I highly doubt that the New Democratic Party (left wing socialists), the Liberals, or the Bloq Quebecois (Quebec seperation party) will help pass this bill into law. If you come from a riding that has elected a right wing politician and you disagree with something that the government is trying to do it is very difficult for your voice to be heard. Alot of the times the politician will just tow the party line and vote with the party even if your constituency disagrees with what the government is doing. As for the Canadian public doing something about this. It's hard to say, i could see the senate doing something about it. It depends on alot of factors that would take up alot of space to write about. I hope this answers your question.

Bill C51

There is a big push here in Canada to fight Bill C51. We are all aware that it is an attempt to attack natural healing versus big pharma. On the surface gov claims it is for protection but they do not fool anyone. Canada has gone down the tubes with big Pharma's disinfo program. It is hard to tell where the fight will end because we have an arrogant leader and here in Ontario...a pompous, self-serving leading party.

Interesting/Agonizing

What a bombshell to have dropped in the lap of a people!

Control mechanisms move from practical use into the political sphere, and pretty soon, you have a civil war and revolution.

When will people realize that businessmen are the real bastards?

They are the "cancer" in society. Commercialism will take us over body and soul. The "natural" drug movement and simple bread and water not-excepted.

Soon they will say "government" has no business controlling wilderness, water in any form anywhere, and that it is a form of unfair "competition" to business.

They will advocate reservoirs as ligitimate "business" resources, and that it is fair to deny "cremation" as a waste of "natural resources" for business.

If anyone thinks the "FDA" protects US citizens from "impure drugs" or "false claims of utility" or "effectiveness" of their oil-industry derived synthetics, they are saddly mistaken and almost unforgiveably ignorant of FACTS.

We better wake up. We better realize that no principle of government is immune to infestation by the mega-commercial mind-set. It is one thing to want people to know of some goods or services you might want to provide by sincere effort; another to see such as simply writ small a "bigger" concern that grows into a real societal disease. BIGGER, BIGGER, MORE, MORE.

They are not just bigger, they are voracious and will see to it the local "mom and pop" doings become a thing of the past. You and I cannot compete. We are things of the "past", or is it people of no import? To the lions go the gains. But our Represenatives are supposed to be our good shepherds to protect us from such. Or what?

Pretty soon, if you want to use the dandelions growing in your front yard to make salad or wine, it will require a license...following the big-business trends.

If the city sees your yard with such weeds, patented and protected for business purposes, and the city churl checks and finds you lack this license, they will see to it you are fined and should you not pay lay a lien against you, compelling you to invest in some mega-corp product to get rid of them, or to take all your free time to do so by hand. And they'll lay interest on your tardiness.

But big business has made money on you coming and going. Big business is charging you extraordinary prices for simple things. Who, in the Buckeye state would ever have believed that "horse-chessnut" or "buckeye" extracts would cost more than silver or gold weight for weight? Who living on a sea-shore would believe they would have to pay up to 900 times simple trade value for some sea-weed or kelp? But businessmen think that is fair.

Rather, it is what they can get away with because of the ignorance and laziness of us "consumers".

It is business men who have no scruples who lay the foundation for this mess. And business men will find ways to make the most out of it, too. The problem with us, we don't call people to the carpet. We think our rights of access are being threatened when in fact, our right to be robbed is being threatened, which is why I say, we are being taken coming and going. Because there is a sincere segment of representation that sees businessmen for what they are: thieves. Gougers. But that is a minority position. Evidently curtailing outrageous prices for common things is an "evil" according to businessmen. I guess the People's "lobbyists" are just whimps. Oh! did I say "lobbyist"? I meant Elected Representative! The People have no Lobbyists. The "lobby" is outside the Floor. Remember? Floor of the Senate? The REAL SEAT OF POWER? Just in case you US Citizens reading this didn't know.

Some believe that a "regulator" will come into the picture and save us both in terms of purity of product and actual value. Wrong on both counts if the US is any example. In terms of ease of production and what is charged for the simplest most effective synthetic drug: aspirin, I would guess it should only cost about 2 cents for 100 300 miligram tablets. If they were bottled in glass, I would also guess it should only cost about 10 cents USD, maybe 25 cents after marketing and transport costs. The plastic bottles we get aspirin in are part and parcel to an industry that not only makes aspirin less expensive than the container, but helps make the earth nigh-on to uninhabitable. I can do the math that shows that plastic and oil drive down the value of even guns which have replaced silver and gold in terms of national "tressure" or international medium of exchange.

Why? Because when value is given to plastic, a worthless product to begin with, or part of the rejecta of the "oil and gasoline" refinement process, it must mean that all other symbols are, despite rarity, not relevant. Same with "asphalt", which only politicians under the influence of "oil-men"/businessmen, saw as a better form of road-surface than concrete or cement. What's the problem? Cement streets can be made to last for centuries! Asphalt streets have to be "resurfaced" about every 4 years or less. We used to pay "street" maintenance people to just "tar" the cracks. Now we keep four of them in mansions standing around watching two of them filling in a pot-hole.

If you can get even one cent for something of no intrinsic value, you have displaced gold, silver and weapons. Unless, of course, the source requires war to get at. What "mom" and "pop" ever competed with that?

We can't seem to get rid of plastic. Yet we are making more and more of it. As the market goes, so goes the mind-set. As the mind-set sees wealth in the cheapest of things, or even less than cheap, something that costs wealth to get rid of, then negative wealth becomes, somehow, riches! Yea! Logical? Of course not. But that is what we are permitting. That is what we are doing.

In the Pacific, we have a collection of plastic that is richer than the concentration of even zooplankton. It is collected in a gyre larger than Colorado,Arizona and Arkansas taken together. It is an "Oceanic Texas".

I'm sure many Texas "oil-men" would be proud of this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_Garbage_Patch

A blade of grass, a seed of grain, neither one will one day be left in Texas or anywhere else for such pride.

And all who accede to such, knowingly, will find niether jot or tittle to eat, let alone buy or sell. The very earth is shouting. Not a stone will be silent, but in the days to come, if we don't put reins on the evil giants, we will find ourselves sucking stones for even a hint of nutrition. Why? Because we think our Reps know the will of WE the people. And if the people think voice is in mere buying and selling and ballots....sorry, it takes more than that. We have to actually write a letter, make a phone call, DO JUST SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE than punching a ballot. Talk. Do. Act.

The values we are losing are in our inaction in terms of calling to account those we empower to represent simple local needs and ideals. We "vote", we "elect" but after that, we sit back, and think "they will know my mind". We account to them ESP powers no Kreskin ever evinced, no seer of the Bible ever had, and no savior can possibly display in one single body or by one single life. Why? Because we are almost 6 billion strong. We have to take these issues in hand ourselves, and really own our lives and our environment as if our very lives depended on it. And IT DOES!

Time to put brakes on the entire political process and stop buying the hype. The sound-bite, the accomodative "sounds-good-to-me" lazy thinking. Imagine what could be acheived by every thinking person actually calling their Reps, or even writing in real pen and ink!?

Better read our Constitutions and know them, and take responsibility for our lives by saying NO when it really counts. Representation is vitiated and a form of hypnosis. Obviously, right? Otherwise, wouldn't these "wise ones" have prevented complete dependence on a system of industry that has practically destroyed the oceans? The little bees and bugs and trees?

Anyone who doesn't actually write their reps in real ink, with paper, asking questions about their fears or doubts can know these people are sliding by. They aren't mind readers, and they are human. Email doesn't work. Blogs work for mutual information of a constituency, but do you really thing your Rep reads such? The Reps only respond to PRESSURE as history attests. Very few are visionaries that really take pains to see the greatest good for the greatest number. And such are usually castigated in the process.

Make your Rep earn their bread and butter. Write your newspapers, but in the end, such will only get published 1/10 or less of the time. Use the VISE principle: call, write and write again your Reps and then notify your local paper of your actions and the lack of response if such accrue. THAT IS NEWS, the bread and butter of media unless also abrogated by commercial power. Other than that, we have the right to revolt or go to the streets. No more "business as usual". Last result, but such is an indictment of the Representation. They need a good hickory stick held up to their faces as a sign that we do not accede to "business as usual" when it means death of the earth or slavery to business.
