NASA has released an interactive map of infrared images of the Milky Way. The map is a result of over 2.5 million snapshots taken in over a decade long project:
The map is a result of over 2.5 million snapshots taken in over a decade long project. This is the very first time that the entire database of pictures has been stitched together like a mosaic. This beautifully captures everything; from the crowded core of the Milky Way, to the vast outer edge where other galaxies can be discovered.
