Lose your Shit
Lose Your Shit with King Britt, JDH + Dave P (FIXED), Lost and Found, DJ Smallchange, It's back and we need it — Lose Your Shit — A Dance Party. This time, we are throwing the party outside, in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn, at the Old American Can Factory. As always, the DJ line-up is eclectic and wide-ranging — meant to shake up the dancefloor with sounds from different NYC party scenes. You never know if you'll hear wobbly dub, banger electro, vintage funk, soulful boom bap, deep techno, but all attendees have one thing in common… the intention to lose their shit. These parties have existed in the underground and have generated new expectations, new dancers, new participants. Both parties created out of necessity rather than ego. The door is straightforward and everything else is just good: music, performers, crowd. This party brings these two crews together and promises to supply little perfect moments surrounded with darkness, music, and art. The End is Nigh! Take Evolution into your own hands and come as your best hybrid mismatched animal as we all set sail for Burning Man! Mark your calendars and expect an Amazing DJ Line Up at this Blow-out-one-month-till-burning-man-summer-lovin-animus-adventure! All proceeds go directly to the art project. The Buddha Bunny, inspired by the Burning Man 2009 theme Evolution, focuses on personal or spiritual evolution. Similar to the interactive and contemplative experience of our last work, Arbor Animus, this artwork would inspire further dialogue with the participants of Burning Man about the nature of a personal evolution. The meet spot is 949 Grand St in Brooklyn. It's a bar, relax, have a drink, wait for the van to show up. There'll be someone there coordinating loading and unloading.
IMPORTANT: No one will be allowed in or out of the venue unless they are riding in our designated passenger vans. No exceptions. Seriously, no exceptions.

Sacred, Symbolic and Creative Geometry with John Lloyd and Karl Lorenzen
The Geometry of the Solar System and the Creation of Sacred Space is the theme this evening. Sacred geometry constitutes a common ground between many of the worlds cultures and traditions. Its language of number and symbol can be used to express profound ideas about the nature of existence. This course teaches the vocabulary and alphabet of sacred geometry, and shows participants how to use the circle, triangle, square and spiral to construct sacred space. We will draw on patterns from Morocco, the Vedic tradition, stone circles and medieval rose windows and examine the geometry of both living forms and the solar system. Note: Please bring a compass, ruler, pencils and a pad of paper for the drawing exercises. **Please note registration will be closed on 7/31 & 8/01, it will reopen 8/02 at 12noon.

Manhunt NYC: Summer 09
We are back to our favorite playing ground for an intense game of yellow and red manhunt! We are happy to expand our playing field to the whole park now that it is open! Let's make this the biggest one yet. Dont have a team? show up and we'll give you one. you dont need to bring anything but running shoes. Captains: Red Team: Avary T. and Eric G. Yellow Team: Arcody R. and Oscar T. The rules are simple and familiar: -One team will hide while the other seeks them over a set amount of time. -A seeker may tag (one hand at least) a hider and escort them back to jail. (you can only bring back one at a time and you must bring your own back) -The jail is a small circle they must remain inside. -There are two jail guards who can be within the guard circle (a bigger one around the jail). all other seekers stay out of the guard circle. jail guards can multitag; -if an untagged hider gets into the jail circle, those in jail are free; -the score equals the number of hiders in the jail at the end of the round, then the teams switch. Remember to watch out for people, cars and cops! dont do anything illegal and be careful! everything is at your own risk!

Evolver Spores: Shamanic Panic
In tribal societies, shamans are healers and visionary leaders who go through dangerous initiations to gain knowledge from the spirit world. Modern culture repressed and dismissed shamanism as archaic and irrational. Today, our society seems increasingly irrational, unable to change its course in the face of looming environmental and economic catastrophe. Meanwhile, shamanic practices such as soul retrieval, journeys with sacred plants, and ecstatic dance are gaining popularity. What meaning and value do these techniques have for us today? During an evening of Shamanic Panic, we will discuss, experience, and explore. Hosted by ShamanPortal and Evolver.net.

PERMACULTURE AND YOGA
* Learn practical skills for cultivating peace of mind and living sustainably.
* Observe and learn to work with patterns in nature from a place of balance and center. 'Yoga' means 'union.' While Yoga practice unites individual consciousness with Universal Consciousness, Permaculture integrates humans with nature. It is a fast-growing world-wide movement that offers a whole-systems perspective and practical solutions to major ecological and social justice challenges. Both approaches ask us to observe and interact with the world consciously and with care. Topics covered in the internationally-recognized Permaculture Design Certification curriculum include: Permaculture design ethics and principles; soils, composting and soil rehabilitation; water conservation, storage and grey-water systems; food systems, four-season gardening, edible food forestry; alternative energy systems and building techniques; mapping, topography, property design, project management, and more. How to find us "Call us to register and we'll be in touch regarding all the details!"

Bali Cultural Tour of Food, Music and Medicinal Plants with Nat Bletter & Cathy Silverman
My ethnomusicologist friend Cathy Silverman and I are leading a musical, culinary, and medicinal plant tour of Bali in August, 2009 to explore all the kind people, delicious food, powerful healing plants, beautiful music and arts of this tropical paradise. It will include gamelan, mask-making, cooking, dance, and herb classes. If you or anyone you know are interested in this tour, please take a look at the tour description: http://nadabrahma.org/Tour2008.html. Bali is renowned among travelers for its breathtaking natural splendor, rich cultural heritage, and profound spiritual mystique. But few foreigners ever penetrate beneath its beautiful surface, which conceals treasures and pleasures known only to the Balinese and a handful of international devotees. Even if you've been to Bali before, this revealing, personalized exploration led by two American experts on the island's hidden wonders will make you see this ultimate tropical paradise with new eyes. And for first-time visitors, there could be no better introduction to a destination no one ever forgets. This cultural tour of Bali, Indonesia provides participants with a unique opportunity to study Balinese culture in a traditional atmosphere on this fifteen-day tour led by ethnobotanist Dr. Nat Bletter and SNHU faculty member and anthropologist Cathy Silverman. This years Bali tour will take place in August 2009 and will be focused on medicinal herbs, healing techniques, traditional cooking, and Balinese culture and religion. Please join us for this unique experience of Balinese culture. Our tours are small and personal, which results in a more interesting and meaningful experience for all. Another special feature of our tours is that participants help shape the experience. Each tour is geared toward participants individual interests, so be sure to let us know what you would like to learn about Balinese culture. We are more than happy to incorporate your personal interests into our tour. We have 3 spots filled already and just need one more to have it go, so please make your plans soon if possible before it fills up (8 people). We need deposits by Sept 15th to ensure good airfares.
