There is an “owl bar” opening in London where you can pet owls. You can see a writeup on it here: http://www.awesomelycute.com/2015/02/london-opens-a-bar-where-you-can-pet-owls/
And a more serious writeup here: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/no-booze-for-guests-visiting-londons-first-owl-bar-10079511.html
Supposedly the bar erroneously advertised that it was fundraising for an owl rescue sanctuary. Some of the animal rights controversy is summarized in the center’s response here: http://www.barnowl.co.uk/news.asp?NewsArticleID=70
I normally can’t stand seeing animals in cages, at all, not even dogs and cats inside a house. I would definitely feel differently if I showed up and the owls seemed more unhappy than they do somehow in these photos, but the magic of getting to touch an owl would so open up everything wild and seer in me that I’m not opposed to this idea so far.
What do you think?
