Seeding Gift Culture – Two-Day Seminar with Charles Eisenstein
This seminar will bring you clarity about your
gifts, new confidence in their power, and an unconquerable
determination to live them. Presented by StorySpiral, Souldish, and The
NY Mythology Group. For the full event description, visit http://www.ascentofhumanity.com/Seeding-Gift-Culture-New-York.php
Writer and speaker Charles Eisenstein will lead a
two-day seminar on the overarching theme of the Gift. This gathering is
a transmission or an attunement to a new story of self and world: the
self of interbeing, living in the spirit of the Gift. Cognitively, we
will embed the crises converging upon us today within a vast
metahistorical context; experientially, we will translate the heart’s
knowing – that a more beautiful world is possible – into embodied,
living belief. Something will crystalize within you, and never again
will you doubt what you know or think that maybe it is you, and not the
world, that has gone mad. With the power of word, attention, and
presence, we are gathering to catalyze the next step of the revolution
in human beingness. The time of loneliness on the path, the time of
wondering if maybe we are crazy, the time of feeling alone in our
intuitions against a world hostile to the Gift, is over.

Zombies!
Just when you thought dark playgrounds were creepy enough…This is the easiest way to find out if you taste good. Okay
okay, jokes aside, this is a chance to get the fear in your bones, get
your heart thumping and learn how to work with some wonderful strangers
in an intense game of Zombie tag. Dress warmly and show
up on time, because we are heading into Hecksher Playground to play in
twilight, when its just hard to tell who is a zombie and who aint. The
rules are simple: If a zombie touches your body with their face, you
are a zombie. Zombies can only move with their knees touching, making
them slow as hell, but be careful! You might be cornered and consumed. Find
the water gun or the remedies to take out a few zombies in the head, or
heal some friends, but just know that the humans always lose. Work together, fight together, die together… then feast together. This is a Gaming Event brought to you by Street Academy. Organizer: Jono Naito

NYC Dust & Illusions – A Burning Man History
Film Screening – A documentary. 30 years of Burning Man history. After
sold out screenings on the West Coast the film is finally coming the
East! Director Olivier Bonin will be present after the screening for a
discussion with the audience about the relevance of Burning Man today,
and the meaning of evolution. If you can invite over 200 people from NYC area to this event on FB, you can get 1 Free seat. Please contact me first: http://dustandillusions.com/contact. About
the film: Dust & Illusions looks at 30 years of history of Burning
Man all the way back to the late 1970s deep into the origins of the
event. Through 21 interviewees the film presents the philosophies that
fueled the creation of the festival, and its evolution from a small
gathering of friends to the largest “counter-cultural” event in North
America. It offers a new perspective of the meaning of the event, and
questions whether its organizers are more concerned about making sure
the show is ready when the gate opens or if they still truly engage in
building a community and fostering art.

The Money Fix Film Screening and Filmmaker Q&A
Join us for a screening of the acclaimed
feature-length documentary The Money Fix which exposes the assumptions
behind the current money system and offers a look at existing
alternatives. The screening will be followed by a panel and Q&A
with director Alan Rosenblith, Jen Cohen of Seven Stones Leadership and
The Global Sufficiency Network, and Jordan Schachter of Time
Interchange New York (TINY). Alan and Jen will be joining us via Skype
and Jordan will moderate the discussion. We hope you can join us as we
surface and examine hidden assumptions about the function and use of
money and learn practical tools for empowering our communities. Money
is at the intersection of nearly every aspect of modern life. Most of
us take the monetary system for granted, but it has a profound and
largely misunderstood influence on our lives. The Money Fix is a feature-length documentary exploring our society’s relationship with the almighty dollar. The
Money Fix examines economic patterning in both the human and the
natural worlds, and through this lens we learn how we can empower
ourselves by redesigning the lifeblood of the economy at the community
level. The film documents three types of alternative money systems, all
of which help solve economic problems for the communities in which they
operate.

Presented by Evolver NYC, Souldish, and StorySpiral.
Here is a recent blog by Alan Rosenblith for
Souldish in which he explores questions such as: What is money? Where
does it come from? How does the design of our monetary system affect
our lives? http://www.souldish.com/2009/10/19/the-money-fix-by-alan-rosenblith
Speaker Panel:
Alan Rosenblith has a diverse professional
background in music, permaculture, and currency design. After being
certified in Permaculture at Santa Fe’s EcoVersity, Rosenblith pursued
a career in filmmaking. His first film “Dreams of Green” detailed
organic farming and was broadcast on New Mexico public television. More
recently, Rosenblith has seen his filmmaking as one tool in a broader
toolkit to promote human evolution. Rosenblith considers his primary
role to be an agent for creating cultural mind shifts. He currently
lives in Portland, Oregon. http://www.themoneyfix.org/
Jennifer Cohen is a founding partner of Seven
Stones Leadership, a professional services firm advancing the practice
of leadership, wisdom, courage and sufficiency. She leverages over 15
years of experience in coaching top managers to achieve outstanding
results as well as being a coach’s coach. Seven Stones was created to
fulfill on the supposition that meaningful effective leadership
requires the exposure of assumptions that guide organizations. Once
uncovered, organizations can create a new set of beliefs, ones which if
embraced and enacted would powerfully shift the company toward the
mindset of sufficiency. The concept of Sufficiency asserts that there
are enough resources to sustain all and a global economy based on these
principles would be a very different world in which to compete. http://sevenstonesleadership.com/
Jordan Schachter is the founder of
TimeForCharity.com, an auction website that hosts auctions for
charities and one of the founders of The Time Interchange Of New York, www.timeinterchange.com,
where New Yorkers can trade goods and services for an alternative
currency called Time Dollars or TINY’s. He has written and directed
several feature films and television pilots as well as plays in New
York. He meditates daily. http://timeinterchange.wordpress.com/
