Ben Wyss, aka: Sixis, is an ever-evolving psychedelic bass producer originally from Berkeley, CA. He’s recently returned to his roots in NorCal, discovering an in-depth perspective through intuition and passionate creativity in the music and arts culture. Drawn towards the artistic lifestyle from a very young age, he dove into the music world about 12 years ago by initially playing in live bands, and as he guided his way, he then discovered electronic music through artists such as Bluetech, Shpongle, and Ott. Ben pursed Music Technology at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, where he took a serious approach to all aspects of music production, and thus, Sixis project was born. To date, he has traveled all around the US for festivals/gigs and is currently planning on exploring more of the world through the lens of music.
“The music that I enjoy most can show us beauty working with dissonance; that is a very important aspect of my music and life in general. I also try to make music that really stimulates the mind and requires active listening, as I hope that this inspires people to question what is really going on, and to pay closer attention to what is going on in the world and within themselves.” – Sixis
Inspired by legends like Tool, Bluetech, Pink Floyd, Robert Rich, and Tipper, they have created an aligning vision to his authentic space of personal creative process. Also inspired by the natural world, technology, dreams, and altered psychedelic states, he believes that they all offer positive insight into the world we live in. Knowing those triggers and feelings create a fluid movement over time, and into his music, he hopes to provoke profound psychedelic experiences of similar thoughts in people no matter what state of mind they’re in. His imaginative style of avant-garde sonic frequencies of geometric and organic psychedelic triggers are unquestionably mesmerizing.
Sixis released “Refraction Point” on Addictech Records on July 14th, 2015 – a four track smorgasbord of frequencies, it’s an excursion into a galactic imagination full of psychedelic bass fusions refracting endlessly to create mind-boggling glitch-hop chills down the spine. A sonic out-of-body experience, Ben Wyss is a West Coast producer with an aligning emergence of eclectic depth, glitch amalgamations, intricate resonance, rhythmic melodies, eerie atmospheres, and intentional pulsations. These sacred explorations will rejuvenate, create an upwardly spiral, clearing blockages and manifestations, and thus, transcending light into the crown chakra – an organic remembrance. Featuring captivating artwork by Kris Northern at Phidelity and mastering by Ion Driver.
“Refraction Point” consists of four deep feels – “Refraction Point,” “Wandering Deeper,” “Conduit,” and “Invert and Return,” a collaboration with Mumukshu. “Refraction Point” is a refracting forest, lush transmission, a trickling and groovy depth which makes for an everlasting twist of pace as trippy temptations create on point glitch amalgamations. “Wandering Deeper” is an exploration of the higher self, it’s a sonic poetic fusion that reveals unimaginable textured rhythms, bouncy funk swerves, and heavy-hitting wonders. “Conduit” is a dripping multiverse into the Now, intricately paving the waves. A healing conduit into consciousness, these otherworldly triggers hit an open channel of creative thought – a smooth uplift. “Invert and Return” is a glitch emergence of truth, a look inside-out. Melodic messages flow like a river, an everlasting intermix dream of mysterious whomp flavors.
