About a year ago Josh Radnor contacted me through Reality Sandwich to talk with me about my blog and Reality Sandwich and to share some artistic and shamanically inspired notes. We became friends and started spending time together whenever Josh visited Manhattan to work on the editing of his film, "happythankyoumoreplease." Josh's film (which he wrote, directed, and starred in) went on to win the Sundance Audience award in 2010 and is now debuting in select theaters around the country (it is playing at the Angelika here in NYC).

I accompanied Josh to a NYC showing of his film at a festival in the spring of 2010 and was blown away. Josh has proved that it is possible to make a successful Indy film without being too sarcastic, formulaic, or sardonic. In fact, the film is a bright story about integrity, love, and gratitude, while still featuring many indy quirks audiences will love: charming but modern, "normal" characters doing extraordinary things in everyday settings in NYC, smart dialog and acting from up and coming "new faces," and moments of deep humanity explored in a well-written story.

That the movie is called "happythankyoumoreplease" is perfect. The film is about gratitude and knowing how to accept good things, how to ask for more happiness rather than believing that we deserve more suffering. If this were an Ebert film review then I would give it a "thumbs up," and add a special "namaste" to a brave directorial debut (we're of course partial to filmmakers and actors who love reading our web-magazine, aren't we?!).

happythankyoumoreplease is now showing in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago and more cities. For a full listing visit the happythankyoumoreplease website!
