Reality Sandwich and Disinformation present…
Sneak Preview of 2012: Science or Superstition
Discussion with Daniel Pinchbeck and Gary Baddeley
Come out for a night of thought-provoking cinema and conversation on one of the most fascinating subjects of our time. On December 21st, 2012, the "Long Count" of the ancient Mayan Calendar comes to an abrupt end, finishing off a grand cycle that spans 5,125 years. Some believe it portends an apocalyptic End Times of earth-shattering cataclysms; others disagree, claiming the date as the start of a new era of enlightenment and advanced human consciousness.
The rising popular interest in the 2012 date is a phenomenon in itself, and may indicate a growing awareness that major changes are rapidly taking place in the world. With natural disasters occurring more frequently, and especially in the face of a deepening financial crisis, it appears quite possible that we are heading for turbulent times in the next four years. But alongside these dark scenarios, many are also experiencing profound synchronicities and heightened intuitions, suggesting a powerful shift rising up in the human psyche.
Is the 2012 transformation merely an archeological myth? Or is it a scientific reality, manifesting before our eyes? The new documentary film 2012: Science or Superstition explores these questions, probing deep into the facts and philosophies behind the approaching Mayan climax. Released by The Disinformation Company, the film lives up to the label's reputation for objective, challenging inquiry. A broad range of scholars and authors are featured in exclusive interviews, including Graham Hancock, John Major Jenkins, Alberto Villoldo, astronomer Anthony Aveni, and Daniel Pinchbeck. The film is slated to hit the screens later this year on December 21st, to be exact.
The film will be followed by an interactive discussion with Reality Sandwich's Daniel Pinchbeck (author of 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl) and the film's writer/producer, Disinformation's Gary Baddeley.

Parashakti's Dance of Liberation
Dance, ritual, live DJ and special guest — Julie Kirpatrick certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher. Parashakti & Gatekeepers, Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Julie Kirpatrick, and the Liberation Drummers lead participants into the realms of Dance of Liberation with opening ceremony presented by Elder Keith Starhorse of Tree of Life; Dancers ride the wave of sacred rhythm guided by the use of healing sounds, hypnotic percussive rhythms, Yogic transformational breathing techniques and the use of sensory deprivation through blindfolding while dancing, the ceremony takes the dancer into 'trance' state that promotes physical emotional release and spiritual awakening. Through this transformational fusion of exploring the essence of spirit, dance, breath work and contemporary shamanism, we can access ancient wisdom and healing. This communal ceremony allows dancers to journey with clear intent and liberate their inner light. The use of blindfolds help shed inhibitions and heightens awareness, allowing dancers to go on a "vision quest", moving them to deeper states of consciousness and closer to their soul's purpose. Participants are ritually purified, uniting their heart, mind and spirit. All committed to the spirit of love, unity, healing, spiritual awakening and celebration of life! Through ecstatic dance and enthralling rhythms, we are able to bypass the limitations of the ego mind and connect to the mind of our heart. We dance our power, unlock and liberate our dreams!

The Cup of Receptivity: Understanding the Oracle of the Tarot
The workshop will be taught by Ellen Goldberg, MA, a psychotherapist, artist and mystic who has been working within the Hermetic tradition for 33 years. "Know thy Self" were the words written over the entrance to the Oracle at Delphi. The Tarot is a multilayered oracle that allows us deeper insight into ourselves. Through Tarot we can help others and have a more meaningful life. Our subconscious mind uses dreams and images as its primary method of communication. The archetypal images of the Tarot stimulate the connection to our deepest wisdom and the ability to hear the voice of our inner teacher. In this workshop, we will learn how to open our channels of receptivity to dialogue with our subconscious and become better Tarot readers. We will practice fitting together the images of the cards into meaningful stories; discover how to influence our personal evolution by choosing specific Tarot images to meditate upon, and explore the unique aspects of self that are awakened by each of the 22 Major Arcana. Note: This workshop will be of benefit to both advanced and beginning students of Tarot. Bring a favorite deck. Members: $35 / Nonmembers: $40

Edible Plant Walk with Nat Bletter
This is the last chance in the season to get out into the park and find some delicious, free, local, nutritious food, and probably the last of these walks I'll be able to do before I leave for Hawaii in February. I'll be leading an edible plant walk of Prospect Park this Sunday, Oct 19th at 1 PM, starting from the Northwest entrance to the park at Grand Army Plaza. If you want to come and taste all the chicken mushrooms, sassafras, hawthorn, mustard greens, lamb's quarters, epazote, mugwort, burdock, jewelweed, and more, meet us at the entrance and bring plastic or paper bags and tuperware for collecting food, plenty of water, and a fork (for tasting the park salad). Call 212-677-0222 if you have trouble finding us, though it'll be hard for me to pick up the phone once we've started. Our route will be into the park sticking to the left (north) path along the drive. Follow that path and you'll probably find us. We won't move fast. Look for the guy with the limp and possibly a crutch that doubles as a fruit picker. There is no need to RSVP, just show up. The tour cost is $10. You're welcome to post this on other lists. If it rains Sunday (10% chance right now) we'll still go, so bring rain gear, as this is really the only day I can do it in the next few weeks. If you want to see a preview of what we'll find, or at least the bounty check these videos: Foraging in the Lower East Side: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWiLFxPKxQg. The Whirling Ecstasy – Workshop with Sheikha Khadija Radin
Please bring socks. This event will include instruction of whirling and Sufi meditation and address the integration of mind and body in whirling which leads to insight into the hollow shell of self and the surrender of the soul to the transcendent. Sheikha Khadija Radin is on the Board of Directors and a senior teacher in the Mevlevi Order of America. She was given permission to teach the turn in 1982, and in 2003 given the title Semazen Bashi (Master Whirling Teacher) by Postneshin Jelaluddin Loras. She is on the cover and featured in the book Women Called to the Path of Rumi -The Way Of The Whirling Dervish. She is also a Sheikha in the Sufi Ruhaniat International. As a soloist in the Lucas Hoving Dance Company and a guest artist with many others, Khadija has pioneered the integration of Whirling with Western movement to create a mesmerizing and graceful mode of spiritual practice. This summer she taught and performed a whirling piece in three performances at the American Dance Festival at Duke University in North Carolina and at the three day "On The Way To Sulha" gathering of reconciliation attended by almost four thousand Palestinian and Israelis in Israel in August. Sheikha Khadija teaches that one can experience meditation, drumming, whirling and every other activity as a doorway to being present, to experience that which sees through the eyes and hears through the ears. We can find the opportunity in every activity, to identify with that which has no residence. Prior to the notion of one's self is the awakening to One Self. There is a dance in stillness and a stillness in dance, both of which are complete absorption, and thus, the dissolution of a doer.

"HEAL" Invitation To Our One Year Anniversary!
We are celebrating our ONE Year Anniversary of SEED Gallery, it has been a serious year full of many facets of beautiful experiences. We would like to invite you to gather and celebrate the hard work and honor all the artists that have helped made SEED grow! The Revolution Won't Be Televised! Come and spread some love =) Group Show. Mystic art is spirit expressed into matter. A mystic artist receives and transmits revelation, providing their art as a medium for messages from the divine matrix of Creation. (Alex Grey, http://www.cosm.org) Creating a work of art is like creating a new language, the language that communicates with the soul, the ability of transcending meaning without any boundaries. Art communicates what words cannot. The emotions of a human are dynamic. The spark within all of us can cause a wave pool of ideas that could lead to a better quality of life. The act of creating is a cathartic expression, a source of comfort, a way to expend and understand our trials and tribulations. Seed Gallery is bringing to the forefront art that has been used for healing by the very act of creating it in the new exhibition "HEAL." Our opening reception is a celebration of the creativity and the resilience of the human spirit. The works of Fugen Bacaz, Gizem Bacaz, Allyson Green, Sarah Wellington, Blaq, Nemo, Satoshi Sakamoto, Amy Angeles, Ryan Hopkins, Ariana Mirabile, Mike Collins, Takun Williams, Salma Shamy, Bernardo Corman, Andrew Maishman, Takun Williams and Alfredo Manzo, Ralph Sanders, France Garrido, Steven Peabody, Steve Shorts, Caroline McAuliffe, Christina Fuentes, Doug Oneil, Philippe Garcesto, Allison May Dzielak, Jon Entwhistle, Analiese Desaw and other artists will further detail the process of healing through creation.
