This week New Yorkers can read between the crop circles, learn rhetoric for radicals, share in some sexy eye gazing, honor the sacred hoop of the North, eat some wild vegan treats, and sweat to electro-house beats. Remember to email me your events: salma(at)souldish(dot)com.
Until next week,

Entheologue: Crop Circles TransFormation
Evening of Perceptual Awakening with Alan Steinfeld Followed by Live Painting Party
These odd geometric formations, created by unknown intelligences, have appeared worldwide for over 20 years. The most complex and sophisticated designs are located in the district of Wiltshire, near Stonehenge and other sacred sites in the south of England. Alan Steinfeld traveled there in August to look at the most bizarre physical phenomenon happening on the planet. He discovered it was the most interactive year of thought exchange between the people of Earth and the circle makers. What was finally revealed this summer was a sort of Rosetta Stone of specific mathematical proportions that could be deciphered and understood from a crop circle. This evening will be about understanding other levels of reality, left and right brain perception, the symbolism of thoughts, where we are in the universe, and how sacred geometries, particularly crop circles are here for personal and planetary transformation. Entheologue: (8-10p, $20); Live Painting Party: (10p, $15) Live Painting with Alex Grey, Allyson Grey, Oliver Vernon, Percept. Open to all artists. Please bring your own materials and canvas no larger than 30×40".

Eye-Gazing Party at Jivamukti
It has been said that "the eyes are the window of the soul." What would it be like to connect with someone after you've spent some time gazing into his or her eyes? Enchanting. We share eye contact in silence with delightful world music playing in the background to open the connection. After the Gaze, we come together and enjoy the AfterGlow Dinner… a deliciously luscious vegan feast where eye gazers socialize in community at the lovely JivamukTea cafe. We offer an equal gender balance for our gatherings. This Eye Gazing event is for single individuals only. Eye Gazing works best with spiritually minded heterosexual Yogi's & Yogini's who are comfortable in their own skin, love to dance, are interested in connecting on a deeper level without alcohol and are vibrantly ageless. Eye Gazing at Jivamukti by Melange is lovingly hosted by Jeanine T. Abraham of Melange Internationale. $45.00 pre-registration online or at the front desk of Jivamukti Yoga School( Final Sale, no refunds )

Meditation for the People Workshop
Come support my friend Adam in his new "Meditation for the People" workshop Saturday, November 29th frpm 2-4pm at East/West Yoga (14th Street and 5th Avenue). We will explore the landscape of meditation philosophies and techniques while learning about the everyday scientific/health benefits of meditation. And of course, we will practice meditating together along the way. By the end of this workshop, each student will have established their own life-long personal meditation practice and philosophy, chosen individually from the wealth of information, philosophies, and practice techniques. Traditionally meditation has been reserved for eastern religions, monasteries, and ashrams, or for those who could afford expensive meditation schools. But ever since scientific studies have proven the medical benefits of meditation, and have even linked public meditation to decreased crime rates, the practice of meditation is now available to anyone interested in healthy living. The truth is that meditation is healing and helpful for anyone, anytime, regardless of religion or belief. By calming our minds and learning to center within, we take an active role in creating peace on earth (which is a goal most of us share, especially around the upcoming Holidays!).

=====Support Figment 2009=====
Plans for 2009
The 2009 FIGMENT event has been scheduled for June 12-14. Please help us to expand FIGMENT and our summer-long programs next year, so that we can reach even more people, and showcase the work of even more artists. Here are a few ways that we are hoping to expand in 2009:
* Increase the size of the FIGMENT event, accommodating more artwork and a larger volunteer staff
* Provide more sound equipment for bands and performers
* Provide clearer signage and wayfinding (more visible maps, etc.)
* Expand the City of Dreams Mini-Golf Course from 9 to 18 holes
* Increase the number of summer-long installations and exhibits
* Invest in our website and our arts management database
Since we do not accept corporate sponsorship, FIGMENT and our summer-long programs can only happen if we receive support in the form of grants and individual contributions from supporters like you. The FIGMENT event and our programs will scale in proportion to the support we receive.
Please make a donation and help us sustain and grow FIGMENT and our programs! Follow this link to donate: http://figmentnyc.org/donate.
