While some praise indoor plumbing and the flush toilet as sterling achievements, for others, it is the height of insanity to use drinking water to dispose of human waste and then wash it away into large bodies of water, spreading the potential for pollution of all Earth’s water bodies.
If a leader declares war as the only
recourse, they cannot lead, for they do not hold life sacred within
their hearts. If a leader promotes the rapacious profiteering of a
very few at the expense of the many, they cannot lead, for they have
been corrupted by the rot of power-lust and aggrandizement.
The twin epidemics of obesity and autoimmunity are symptoms of a deep infirmity in our civilization. Each condition shows us something about our society, and offers clues to how we might heal these conditions that have proven so intractable to modern medicine.
The term "spiritual emergency" reflects the similarity between the words "emergency" and "emergence," suggesting both a problem and opportunity to rise to a higher level of psychological functioning and spiritual awareness.
