The
Evolver Re-Skilling event this Spring, celebrated the beginning of the growing
season with relevant workshops that highlighted Permaculture. As the growing season
comes to a close, We are gearing up for an event that places Permaculture at
the helm.
The first ever“Permaculture Festival”
will take place at the historic, Old Stone House (http://theoldstonehouse.org/) in, Park Slope Brooklyn, Saturday, November 10th,
from 10am-6pm.
In
the Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Permaculture Practitioners, Keith Morris and
Andrew Faust, will be facilitating a group discussion about how Permaculture
can be useful as a response to natural disasters. ‘Permacorps International’ came about as a response to the
Haiti Earthquake. There will be an open discussion about organizing for a North
East Permacorps chapter.
Evolvers
November Spore is “The Healing Journey.” The festival will offer an array of
Permaculture skills that contribute to self-healing, the healing of our
communities and the healing of the Earth.
Evolver
will be contributing to this event in partnership with the Park Slope
Permaculture Guild, NY Permaculture Exchange, Ecophilia & the Old Stone
House. The
festival will be held both indoor and outdoor, in conjunction with the 3rd
Annual Great Pumpkin Smash and
will follow the same format as the previous re-skilling events with
simultaneous workshops, delicious food, music, art, a live
barter market and more. Bring your old Jacks for the compost.
The
out
door hearth will fire up at 7am in preparation for a community
lunch at 12:30pm, with live music and spirits sponsored by Certé, the first sustainable
Pizzeria in Manhattan.
On Sunday, November 11th the Permaculture fest continues at the Brooklyn Commons as Andrew Faust opens up his Permaculture Design Certification classroom to the public for the day to come and learn about urban permaculture.
Claudia
Joseph is a Permaculture Practitioner, Environmental Educator, Consultant,
Founder of the “Park Slope Permaculture Guild” and Director of the NY
Permaculture Exchange. She has been developing and maintaining the
grounds of the Old Stone House in true Permaculture form since 2004;
building the gardens over time with student and adult volunteers. This dynamic landscape is a modern riff
on the Dutch colonial period with plants for food, medicine, craft and wildlife
habitat.
