Chaos Brigade
The concept is none other than having a replica of the Carnival of Venice, a beautiful parade that dates back as far as the 1200's. In this parade, the participants are fully disguised, the costumes are up to the costume wearer, the only requirement is the Mask, so typical of this event. What we would to is show up in full venetian regalia in St. Marks (venice carnival begins in St. Mark's Square) and spread out through the downtown area around Little Italy, then the entire 'parade' itself can reconvene three evenings for the weekend and stop at things, like rocky horror, personality crisis, performances, etc. The dates would be around the same as the carnival in Venice and it would last through out the weekend. Proceeds from this event will go to The New Flesh Work shop for developing durable yet inexpensive prosthetic components out of recycled and readily available materials utilizing manufacturing techniques viable in third world countries, war torn regions and disaster areas. This night raises funds with a special focus on providing needed care for survivors of the Haitian Earthquake. The event will be held in an old two-story theater in Tribeca. Phantasmaphile is honored to present an evening ritual with Shaman Itzhak Beery, co-founder of the NY Shamanic Circle. This ceremony will focus on Meeting Power Animal Spirits: The Journey to Non-Ordinary Realities. Participants will be introduced to the principles of the shamanic belief system. The workshop teaches the techniques of shamanic journeying which is used by shamans to enter non-ordinary realities. Doctors Without Boarders Haiti Benefit
So it's been a minute and I figured the best way to start a new decade was for some good ol' fashioned altruism. Next Thursday February 11, I'm hosting a benefit at D.B.A. bar for Doctors Without Borders to support their Haiti efforts. I've admired this organization for years as they are literally the first responders in any international humanitarian crisis. Check out their site for more details www.doctorswithoutborders.org. Disorient presents – Bioluminescence ii
Arrow Chrome’s floating Piscean celebration and Birthday bash. Bioluminescence is a boat party on a 3-floor, climate-controlled paddle-wheel boat with 2 sound systems and two full bars. The theme is glowing and illuminated figures and art, an exploration of the crossroads of bio- and technological. Bioluminescence is a miracle of our natural and artificially enhanced illumination. Bioluminescence is a birthday party. Bioluminescence is a fundraiser for the 10th year of the Disorient theme camp at the Burning Man festival. The participatory community event takes place on a boat called the Queen of Hearts. We will set sail from Pier 78 (NY Waterway Midtown Terminal at West 39th Street & the West Side Highway). Boarding starts at 9:30 pm, and the boat leaves the dock at 11 pm sharp. Don’t be late!
