Yoga helped bring me to ayahuasca, and ayahuasca brought me to A Course in Miracles (ACIM). To me, ACIM is the Master Teacher that has elucidated both yoga and ayahuasca. Ayahuasca takes you down the rabbit hole to give you the experiences towards which the Course is pointing.
If we could get a better idea of what Soma was, and determine if it still exists today or could be re-produced, we might then make use of it as a technology or tool that would better inform our understanding of the Yoga tradition.
Ayahuasca hasn’t made me enlightened, if there truly is such a thing, though it has done the work of a traditional guru and illuminated the darkness within, which has allowed me to be more aware of and correct/prevent self-serving, fear-based thoughts, words and actions.
A shift is happening in the yoga world in connection to shamanistic practice, particularly the use of plant sacraments like ayahuasca.  Finally the older generation of yoga teachers who have used ayahuasca for decades are speaking about it more openly.
What can the Yoga Sutras and their interpreters tell us about entheogen-induced states of consciousness? If I partake of plant medicines, have I fallen from the path, or can botanicals play a role in the discipline of yoga?
