TURNING HOPE INTO ACTION: THE PATH OF SACRED ACTIVISM

Hosted by Andrew Harvey

True love of the Divine's presence in others, when expressed in wise,
compassionate action, leads not only to lasting inner joy but also to
profound transformation of outer reality. When the inner joy of
compassionate service is married to a practical and pragmatic drive to
transform all existing economic, social and political institutions, a
radical and potentially all-transforming holy force is born. This is the
radical force of Sacred Activism.

A Sacred Activist is someone who is starting to experience the inner joy
and outer effectiveness of this force, who knows that the profound
crisis the world is in is challenging everyone to act from our deepest
compassion and wisdom, and who is committed to being, in the face of
growing chaos, suffering, and violence, what Robert Kennedy called "a
tiny ripple of hope" and "a center of energy and daring."

Andrew Harvey is famous around the world for his inspirational talks and deep
commitment to a life of engagement. In this exclusive online course,
Andrew will show us how to share his passionate experience of the Divine
as we devote ourselves to helping others.

  • When can initial mystical experiences give birth to an activist path?
  • How can mystical pursuits replenish our soul while we do the long, hard work of activism?
  • What is the role of forgiveness and unconditional love in activism?

In his book, The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism,
Andrew brings together a lifetime’s mystical search with a lifetime’s
passion for activism, and focuses both together to provide an
evolutionary road map for humanity to guide it through this time of
darkest ordeal and greatest opportunity. In his legendary seminars and
workshops, he has brought his inspiring message to people around the
world who are now waking up to the need to become Sacred Activists.·

For this landmark Evolver Intensives course, Andrew's first ever online
seminar, he will introduce you to Sacred Activism through the lives of
five exemplary practitioners and brilliant teachers who are working in
the world with divine force and passion: Adam Bucko, Diane Berke, Heather Murphy, Carolyn Baker, Ellen Gunter and special guest, bestselling author and legendary teacher Caroline Myss.
In a series of one-on-one interviews with Andrew, they will share what
they learned from their extraordinary personal journeys, and encourage
you to· take your own Sacred Activism to a new level of inspiration.

You will be part of this unique event, watching the live video stream and asking your questions directly to these pioneers.

In this course, you will:

  • Acquire an overall vision of the planetary crisis and the birth taking place through it
  • Learn concrete, practical tools for finding your mission as a Sacred Activist
  • Understand the role of your personal shadow in your development as a Sacred Activist.
  • Identify and appreciate the role of society's collective shadow in the work necessary for transformation
  • Connect to the force of the Divine Mother in the birthing of a new world.

When you become a Sacred Activist you participate not only in the "preservation"
of humanity, but in the humbling and amazing transfiguration it is destined for.

What we are being asked to do is not to "fix" the existing system but to
radically transform it so we no longer, by our choices, threaten our
lives and the lives of millions of species. And we can only do this by
radically transforming ourselves.

This course takes place from Thursday, March 24, followed by four consecutive Tuesdays, April 5 thorugh April 26. All calls are at 9:00 p.m.
EST, and you can participate from your laptop anywhere in the world with
a broadband connection. It doesn't require you to download or install
any special software. If you can watch a YouTube video, you can take
part in this course.

The first 4 seminars are devoted to one-on-one conversations between Andrew
and our featured guests, followed by a Q & A session in which you
can take part. This will be a live, dynamic experience in which you
become part of a community of students sharing real time with inspiring
visionaries with much to teach and great stories to share.

In the last seminar, on April 26 at 9:00 p.m. EST, Andrew will
provide a comprehensive conclusion that will include student feedback.

FEATURED GUESTS

Adam Bucko

Thursday, March 24, 9:00 p.m. EST

How can mystical revelation lead to a life of service to youth empowerment?
Adam Bucko, by following his own spiritual path, came in contact with
adolescents living in some of the world's most deplorable slums. This in
turn compelled him to found one of today's most inspirational programs
to help homeless adolescents break the cycle of poverty, the Reciprocity
Foundation.

After growing up in Poland behind the Iron Curtain, Adam Bucko immigrated to
America at 17, where his desire for a meaningful life led him to
monasteries in the US and India. In India he lived and worked at an
experimental community of the poor located in the slums of Dehli.
Returning to the US, he worked on the streets of American cities with
young people struggling against homelessness and sex-work. In 2004, Adam
started the Reciprocity Foundation, an award winning nonprofit that
combines tools for personal transformation with business skills, helping
homeless and at-risk youth get into college, start innovative careers,
become leaders in their communities, and gain invaluable life skills
that will allow them to reach their true potential.

Adam's remarkable work with Reciprocity has been featured on ABC News, CBS
News, and in the New York Times. In 2009, Adam was featured by BET as a
“Community Hometown Hero” in their popular TV campaign, and Tribune
Company’s CW/PIX featured him in a documentary entitled “Invisible:
Diaries of New York’s Homeless Youth.” He received the Echoing Green
Fellowship for emerging leaders and social innovators, and the The Fred
Foundation and Global Youth Action Network Rediscover Your Heart Award
for direct and inspirational action for personal and global change.

In this call, Andrew will discuss with Adam:

  • His initial mystical experiences that led to him to open to God.
  • The experiences in India that led Adam to see God in the poor and desperate.
  • How Adam's work for homeless adolescents grew out of these two visionary experiences.
  • The role that spiritual practice has played in strengthening Adam's commitment to serving disadvantaged youth.

Heather Murphy

Tuesday, April 5, 9:00 p.m EST

Heather Murphy's inspiring story clearly shows how someone living an ordinary
American life can awaken to the suffering of others and, with little
money or connections, start an organization that is working humble wonders. In 2008, Heather
founded the Women's Entrepreneurship Institute, which promotes social
change by repairing the shattered lives of impoverished women in India
in the aftermath of social epidemics, helping them repair themselves and
their broken communities in the wake of tragedy.

In her own words, Heather explains, " Helping a widow support herself is
not something unfamiliar to me. As a freshman in college a close friend
of mine lost his father, and his mother was left to support herself and
her three sons. I was there as she was denied loans for the capital to
start her own company. She eventually relied on family, credit, and the
small amount of life insurance he did have to begin this company. We
worked long hours but nothing was more rewarding than knowing that her
children would be provided for even without both parents. My focus on
helping the widows of Southern India comes from long hours spent helping
my friend’s mom with her business, working with the poor in the United
States since high school, and the contacts in India who have expressed
great need for such a program. The story of WEI is a story of women’s
empowerment through social change. Moved by stories of tragic suicides
and the oppression of widows in the societies of India, I traveled
there, committed to the idea that a small, lean group of people can make
a difference, and do so without the overhead and bureaucracy of larger
enterprises. I listened to the heartbreaking stories and dreams of over
500 women, so that I could create a business model that would ensure
these women’s success. This business model works because the widows
themselves created it. While many organizations work to prevent suicide,
a gap exists in its aftermath; WEI fills that gap by helping widows
support themselves through entrepreneurial ventures."

In this call, Andrew and Heather will discuss:

  • How you can follow your vision to start up an effective service
organization despite having access to no obvious resources or
    connections
  • How to deepen your empathetic connections with people whose
backgrounds and culture are strikingly different than the average
    American's.
  • Ways that WEI is part of a world wide awakening  and empowerment of women that is essential for a new birth of humanity.

Carolyn Baker

Tuesday, April 5, 9:30 p.m. EST

Share the second part of today's call with Carolyn Baker, one of the bravest
and most inspired voices of the change. In her two great books, Sacred
Demise and Navigating Chaos, Carolyn fearlessly embraces the growing
world crisis as a matchless opportunity for transformation.

Carolyn was a psychotherapist in private practice for 17 years, and a professor
of psychology and history for 10. She publishes the Daily News Digest,
which is a collection of independent news stories focusing on
unprecedented transitions and options for navigating an uncertain
future, and has a website, Speaking Truth to Power. She tells stories with an African drum and leads
Sacred Demise workshops, Levels I and II, and has begun a transition
coaching and spiritual direction practice in Boulder, Colorado, where
she lives.

In their discussion, Andrew and Carolyn will address:

  • Why the collapse of industrial civilization is an invitation for inner transformation.
  • How to grow strong enough to accept the gravest challenges that confront society.
  • The best way to nourish our souls, hearts and bodies as we go through the coming dangers.

Diane Berke

Tuesday, April 12, 9:00 p.m. EST

Explore the role of forgiveness and unconditional love in Sacred Activism with
one of the greatest teachers alive on the deep mystical healing that
forgiveness alone can make possible. Diane Berke, a core faculty member
of Andrew Harvey’s Institute for Sacred Activism, is widely known and
respected for the impact she has had on those who study with her.
Diane's boundless care, clear intelligence, and rare ability to create a
safe space for open exchange, create an extraordinarily rich learning
environment, providing her students with profound acceptance and a deep
invitation to the truth that facilitates genuine transformation and
healing.

Diane is the Co-founder and Spiritual Director of One Spirit Interfaith Learning
Alliance and the One Spirit Interfaith Seminar, and serves on the
Leadership Circle of the Community of the Mystic Heart. She is the
author of Developing and Deepening Your Spiritual Practice: An Interspiritual Perspective, and The Interfaith Minister’s Training and Reference Manual. A longtime student and teacher of A Course in Miracles, Diane has written four instructive and insightful books based on the Course, including All Things Are Lessons: Essential Teachings of A Course in Miracles.

In this call, Andrew will discuss with Diane:

  • How to embrace unconditional love as a part of your transformation to become a Sacred Activist.
  • The challenges of accepting forgiveness for yourself and granting forgiveness to others in the course of your activism.
  • How to transmute the collective and individual human shadow into inspirational energy for positive change.
  • The importance of teaching the tenants of Sacred Activism to a global community of people dedicated to service.

  Ellen Gunter

Tuesday, April 19, 9:00 p.m. EST

Ellen Gunter is an author, spiritual director and environmental advocate. She spent two years interviewing farmers, teachers, authors, filmmakers, psychologists, scientists, theologians, environmental activists and entrepreneurs for her book, Reunion: Healing our broken connection with the earth, released March 2010.  Ellen writes a monthly newsletter on spirituality and the environment for www.myss.com. She lectures about the connections between spirituality and the environmental crises in the Chicago area and lives in Oak Park, Illinois.

In their discussion, Andrew and Ellen will talk about the great environmental crisis that is threatening humanity and nature and discuss:

* The three main factors making up the crisis–our addiction to oil, the madness of agribusiness and the contamination of our food
* Practical solutions and sacred practices that realign us with nature
* Getting directly involved with environmental causes

Caroline Myss

Tuesday, April 26, 9:00 p.m. EST

A five-time New York Times bestselling author, Caroline Myss is one of
America's greatest teachers and an internationally renowned speaker in
the fields of human consciousness, spirituality and mysticism, health,
energy medicine, and the science of medical intuition.

In her 1996 book, Anatomy of the Spirit,
Caroline investigated the underlying reasons why people sabotage their
healing processes. She identified a syndrome she calls "woundology,"
characterized by a person's reliance on the power of illness for
manipulation of his or her world, as opposed to attaining an
independent, empowered state of health. As with her other seminal
research, this syndrome is now a recognized psychological condition.
Caroline then pursued her interest in the language of symbols, myths,
and archetypes, conducting research that enabled her to profile an
individual's "Sacred Contract," a complex of 12 archetypal patterns that
reflect in mythic language the agreements the soul made prior to birth.
Based on this work, Caroline released Sacred Contracts, which became another New York Times bestseller.

Join Andrew for an intimate conversation with Caroline, his close personal friend, as they discuss:

  • How to look unflinchingly at the collective danger we are in.
  • How to relate to the operations of Mystical Law and grace.
  • How to employ the wisdom of energy medicine as outlined in
Caroline's great book, Anatomy of the Spirit, to stay healthy and strong
for the work of Sacred Activism.
