I didn’t go looking for a new cannabinoid routine. I talked with Anea Bogue, founder of Clea Midlife, on Share Your Experience, and one line she dropped has been echoing in my head ever since.
Something to the effect of: all of the symptoms that women deal with during perimenopause and menopause (and heck, hormonal shifts in general) are all functions regulated by the endocannabinoid system (ECS). It’s kind of the cannabinoid pitch when we educate on the ECS—regulates and provides homeostasis for mood, temperature, appetite, sleep, and so much more. It made sense to me right away that adding cannabinoids into your routine, may just help regulate some of the symptoms commonly associated with hormonal shifts.
Clea Midlife isn’t your average “CBD for stress” brand. Anea created Clea with women in midlife specifically. From the hormonal fog to the night sweats and sleep struggles to the way your nervous system starts whispering (or screaming), “We can’t keep doing it like we used to.” And she didn’t do it alone. Her husband, Guy Rocourt—cannabis OG and co-founder of Papa & Barkley—brought decades of expertise in whole-plant medicine to the table. Think less hype, more results.
After our chat, Anea offered to send me a few products to try—not as a pitch, but because she genuinely believed they might support some of the shifts I was going through hormonally.
So I started experimenting. And what follows is not a sales pitch. It’s my real experience—some trial, a few errors, and a surprisingly effective rhythm that’s now become a part of my day.
FOCUS: The Brain Fog Buster
Let’s start with Focus, because this was the one I was most excited about, and frankly, the most desperate for. Between running a household, managing a business, working with multiple clients and contributors, and juggling 27 open tabs at all times, my brain can start to feel like a browser that needs a force quit.
Sometimes I just need to take a walk and a break, but other times I need to lock in and get into mode. Enter Focus. Each capsule has 50mg of hemp-derived CBG, often called the “mother of cannabinoids.” CBG is known for supporting mental clarity, sharper focus, and even boosting mood. (And yes, it’s legal hemp in all of Clea’s products, always under 0.3% THC.)
At first, one cap felt… subtle. Not bad, just not lightning bolt level. But two caps in the early afternoon? That’s my sweet spot. Taken on an empty-ish stomach, a while after lunch, it gives me just enough clarity to finish the workday without that squirrel-brain ping-pong match I usually deal with.
And sometimes I’d forget that I had even taken it. And then, hours later, realize I hadn’t spiraled into chaos. That’s a win.
EASE: Whole Body Chill
Ease was the sleeper hit for me. Marketed for anxiety, aches, and general wellness support, it’s a full-spectrum CBD capsule (50mg per dose) with no additives, just clean, coconut-oil-based delivery.
I started taking this one before dinner or with my evening routine—and sometimes stacked it with Focus when my nervous system felt a little too revved up. That combo was chef’s kiss: clear but calm. Just a little less… edge.
I also love Ease paired with Sleep (we’ll get there in a sec)—it seems to help me not just fall asleep, but stay asleep. And I appreciate that Clea uses real-deal whole plant extracts. This is how CBD is meant to be taken. Not as an isolate, not in a gas station gummy, not in a 5mg dose. This. Is. It.
SLEEP: The One That Surprised Me Most
Listen, I’ve tried a lot of sleep products. Melatonin? Sure, works for a while, but tolerance builds quickly. Random blends from the health aisle? Mostly useless or not for every-night use. CBN gummies? I’ve had a couple that are so-so, but I usually need 10mg+ of CBN to really knock me out. So when I saw that Clea’s Sleep caps had just 2mg CBN and 2mg THC, I wasn’t expecting much. That felt super low to me.
But then… I started sleeping. Like, really sleeping.
Each cap contains 50mg of CBD, along with the above gentle doses of CBN and THC, and the blend is beautifully balanced. And like I mentioned above, sometimes I paired an Ease with a Sleep. Example: I had a hard workout and my muscles were sore, or when I have any physical tension or racing thoughts that would normally keep me up.
But I found that the Sleep did a great job on its own. No grogginess. No weird dreams. Just a gentle, effective nudge into actual rest. I take it as part of my nighttime wind-down and close my eyes as soon as I feel the tiredness kick in. Which I highly recommend—if you push through that initial heavy eyelid feeling, you’ll end up in a weird half-awake state, probably doom-scrolling. Go to sleep.
Also? I wake up refreshed. Not testing the personal limits of how many times one can hit snooze.
NOURISH: Whole Body Treat
The thing I loved most about this oil hit me before I even used it—it smelled like cannabis oil. Grassy, earthy, deep. I love that smell. It means it’s actually made with real plant material, so you know it’s full of terpenes and cannabinoids.
I have used this product the least out of the lineup, but it is really lovely. Nourish is packed with 1100mg of CBD (yes, really), organic coconut oil, vitamin E, and a gorgeous amber and bergamot scent that feels grounding and sexy without being overpowering.
I use it after a shower or sometimes on sore muscles. My skin loves it, and the smell alone is a mood-lifter. Also, CBD in skincare? Totally underrated for inflammation and skin barrier support. This one’s a keeper.
Last But Not Least
Clea isn’t trying to be everything to everyone, and that’s what makes it work. It’s a line made by a woman, for women, in a phase of life where we’re often overlooked by wellness brands. The ingredients are clean. The formulas are intentional. And best of all? The effects are real.
If you’re navigating brain fog, energy dips, restless nights, or just trying to feel like yourself again—Clea Midlife is worth exploring. It works alongside traditional hormone replacement therapy for those that use it, so don’t feel like this is all or nothing.
I’m still fine-tuning what works best for me, but I can confidently say: these products earned their place in my routine. Not because I was gifted them, not because I “have to” say something nice, but because they genuinely helped me feel more clear, calm, and capable.
And that’s something I’ll always want more of and want to share with our community.
