A big day, astrologically. Mars finally turns direct later tonight, right as the Moon is applying to make its last quarter, and right as the Sun enters Gemini.
Our “think first” act later tendencies might be majorly challenged in the next few days as Mars turns direct this week. Looking back at the events in our lives since the end of March we might find that we’ve been sitting on all different kinds of difficult decisions, we’ve been biding our time, waiting, reflecting, pondering, trying to choose wisely, and it’s possible that we’ve been cutting ourselves off from our own truth for the sake of someone or something else. It’s also possible that we’ve been avoiding saying, speaking, or coming to a conclusion about something because we’re afraid to take the actions we know we have to take.
Look for clarity, action, and the end of sitting on our hands for the next few days. Especially the next 48 hours as the last quarter moon comes through right as the Sun is changing signs into Gemini. The communications over the next two days will be helping to create changes we’ve been waiting on for for several months now.
Also, if your ability to take action has felt stuck. If you’re craving physical movement, exercise, etc. If you’re feeling lethargic and inert, then remember to take your time. When mars is stationed its a particularly good time for accidents, so be careful not to get too headstrong. Right as something is finishing there is always a temptation to rush to the finish line, and it’s often right when we rush to completion that we trip and fall onto the concrete of our ambition.
Right now is a good time to think of ambition as something that’s a little stoned or a little fattened after a holiday meal. Ambition is getting back up onto her feet tonight, and she’s likely to do so after some intense new decisions and conversations (something like a resolution), but it’s going to take her maybe like a week or two to really get the ship turned around and moving in this new direction.
Time is on your side. You’re not developing toward anything “better” compared to where you are now. In fact, these difficulties are merely part of how what you are becoming needs to become. It’s important that we therefore learn to move naturally with where the flow of our lives is taking us. Stuckness is part of how we learn flow. Flow is part of how we learn stuckness. We don’t privilege these things in oppositions to one another or else we end up “learning the hard way”…which is also to say that “learning” anything is sometimes the result of seeing first through the lens of opposition anyway. We’re so fixated on “lessons.” Like life is a series of lessons and we just need to accept them and see it all as the spirit of a gigantic grade school testing us forward in grades.
This perception comes when we train ourselves to intensely value certain aspects of life over others. So we like forward movement and action, for example, but we associate inertia or heaviness with negativity. Then when we have to sit in the inertia for a while, we think it’s all happening to teach us a cosmic or evolutionary “lesson,” and then when the forward movement comes back we say to ourselves, “I know now what to do so that I don’t have to go back to the inertia again.” We get fiercely spiritual (whatever that means) and we say, “If I ever have to go back there to the inertia it’s only because I’ll need it…and next time I’ll be better at accepting the negativity of it.”
But how about this whole thing being a kind of manic, grade school fantasy put on by our hyper preferencing of some experiences over others? Can’t we stop to re-vision or reimagine our preferences a little more?
For example…what else can we do with stuckness? Perhaps we can ask it what it wants? Perhaps we can try to move into it with accurate description..try to see it and experience it for what it is. IT’s most often that anything can become enjoyable once we start seeing it with the eye of the heart, which is our imagination.
So all this being said, we ARE moving forward again. New directions. New communications. New decisions. And the inertia should start to lift this week. But let’s not be like a kid who can’t imagine his way out of rainy days. Let’s say a sweet goodbye to this uncertainty…this deep ambivalence..this mood that’s been with us for so long now. I see it like a moth that’s been living in my office for quite some time…always flickering into my view and distracting me with brown and grey and flecks of white and silver right as I think I know something, right as I’ve thought I’ve known what to do or how to decide or move forward. An inhibiting beauty with silk wings.
Prayer: The beauty moth of mars’ inhibition is leaving us now. Mars is mounting a flaming peacock and soon our hero will return to action. I am thankful for my time in this wondering-land.
